During a wildfire, embers travel. They ride thermal columns miles ahead of the fire front, land on roofs, settle into vent screens, and ignite the attic from the inside. It happens fast and it happens quietly, long before flames reach your structure.
Your attic vents and crawl space vents are the most common ignition pathway in a wildfire. Standard builder-grade screens don't stop embers. Ember-resistant vents do.

How Embers Enter Your Home
Most homeowners focus on the trees and brush around their home. That's important. But the structure itself has vulnerabilities that fuel and flame can't reach but embers can.
Attic vents, soffit vents, and crawl space vents are designed to ventilate. During a wildfire, they also ventilate embers directly into your home's frame. Once embers reach the attic, the fire builds from the inside out. By the time it's visible from the outside, it's too late to stop it.
The same fire event that leaves one home standing can destroy the home next door because of a single unprotected vent. Ember entry through vents is the leading cause of home ignition in wildland-urban interface fires, documented consistently in post-fire assessments including the 2025 LA Fires.

BrandGuard vents block embers, radiant heat, and direct flame. They replace standard builder-grade screens without requiring structural modification in most applications. Available in multiple sizes to match existing vent openings.

Question 1: Can you replace just a few vents, or do you do the whole house?
We can do either. Some homeowners start with the highest-priority vents. Attic and eave vents are typically the most critical. We'll tell you which ones matter most during your assessment, and you choose the scope.
Question 2: Will my insurance company accept this?
BrandGuard products meet CAL FIRE and California Chapter 7A standards, which are the leading benchmarks for wildfire-rated building products. We document every installation with photos and product data sheets. Most carriers respond positively to this documentation.
Question 3: Do I need permits to replace vents?
In most cases, like-for-like vent replacement does not require a permit. If your situation involves structural modification, we'll flag that during the assessment. As a licensed GC, we handle permit coordination when it's needed.
Question 4: How long does it take?
Most full-home vent replacements are completed in a single day. Larger homes or complex rooflines may require two days.
