Why Gutters Are One of the
First Things to Address

In post-fire structure assessments, debris-filled gutters are consistently identified as a primary ignition source. It doesn't take flame contact. Embers alone, landing in dry debris, are enough to start combustion.

The roofline is also the hardest place to defend once ignition starts. A fire in your gutters spreads to your fascia, then your roof deck, then your attic. It typically happens within minutes.

Clean gutters reduce the risk. But cleaning gutters is ongoing seasonal maintenance. Ember-proof gutter guards eliminate the problem at the source. Debris can't accumulate if it can't enter the gutter.

BrandGuard Gutter Guards

BrandGuard gutter guards are CAL FIRE tested and listed. They block ember intrusion while maintaining normal drainage. Compliant with California Building Code Chapter 7A and AB 38 requirements. SafeHaven is Central Oregon's only certified BrandGuard reseller and installer.

MitigateNow Gutter Guards

MitigateNow is an ember-tested gutter protection system built for wildfire-prone regions. It blocks ember entry and prevents debris accumulation without restricting water flow. SafeHaven is a certified MitigateNow installer serving Central Oregon.

Both systems are specifically designed for the wildland-urban interface. This is not a standard gutter guard product repurposed for fire zones. These are tested, rated, and documented wildfire mitigation installations.

FAQ

Question 1: Do I need to clean my gutters first?

No. Cleaning is part of the installation. We clear debris before installing the guards so you start with a clean gutter system.

Question 2: Which system is right for my home, BrandGuard or MitigateNow?

Both are excellent ember-tested products. The right choice depends on your gutter profile, roofline, and situation. We'll assess your gutters during the evaluation and make a specific recommendation. We carry both and have no preference. We'll use whichever performs best for your home.

Question 3: Will this reduce my insurance premium?

Possibly. Documented ember-resistant installations are increasingly recognized by carriers as meaningful risk reductions. We provide the documentation, photos, product specs, and a written report, that your carrier needs to act on the installation.

Question 4: Can you do gutter guards at the same time as vent replacement?

Yes. Many homeowners do both in a single visit. Zone 0 hardening, which covers vents, gutters, and foundation clearance, is the highest-impact work you can do and we can scope it all together.
